This beautiful piece features two adorable rats venturing out into a luscious jade bamboo forest looking for food, fun and fortune.
The rat is the first of all zodiac animals. According to ancient legend, the order for the Chinese zodiac was decided by a race to the palace. The rat tricked the ox into giving him a ride. Then, just as they arrived at the finish line, the rat jumped down and landed ahead of the ox, winning the race! Rats are known therefore for being shrewd, charismatic and ambitious.
These rats are so-called money rats and they are seeking their fortune in a bamboo forest. At its center, two pieces of radiant imperial jadeite beautifully carved to symbolize a tree trunk stretching into the sky. Large South African champagne diamonds signify captured treasure they will bring back home. The rats themselves are formed from white diamonds with a single glorious champagne diamond for their eyes, mounted on 18k white gold.
